big blogs to inspire rest, logging off, diving into being
Hello sweet friends, what ways have you been resting? While you are reading this I am sitting on a dock with my family. It is sacred time together that feels even more special without being able to hold my siblings close over the last year. To honour the sacredness of connection and docks and laying in the sun I am truly taking a week off.
I have never taken a true week off since getting my first real job at 14. I've always been some kind of self employed over the last 10 years and pride myself on my ability to work wherever, hustle whenever. But I don't think that is a sustainable pace for myself. I set intentions and have planned for radical rest and I am DOING IT! For the first time ever, I log off my phone for hours + days, I schedule emails, and patreon portal posts to honour the commitments I have to self, art, and community, I plan my work in advance. Even in small ways to I cancel meetings and classes to go take a dance class in the park.
There will always be work, there will always being a meeting or a call or a reason to check your phone. But I know that my art needs to not output so maybe I can at least just try deleting the Apps and emails off my phone and read a book and just ~be~. Because I know I cannot hold both creative freedom and feel beholden to systems that do not contribute to that creative freedom all at once.
My return to output is this Saturday August 7th AKA Augusts INTO THE VOID: You Are Good/ Relationship to creativity 🌸 One and a half hours together on zoom exploring what systems/people/things tell us not to be creative? How do we protest those systems?
Each month you get
☁️ 1.5 Hour meeting + circle each month
☁️ Access to Recordings
☁️ Audio notes + meditations
☁️ Worksheets + prompts for discovery
☁️ Access to community discord to stay committed + connected
🕳WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
"you demonstrate how art can be weird / changing / imperfect / impactful all at the same time. You've really helped me to get away from perfectionist ideas of art and be more in the ~processs~ and fun feeeelings of art making."
"Okay Shoe is a portal of support, positivity, encouragement, affirmations, a shoulder to cry on at times... It's a creative & magical space to connect with other artists & deep thinkers! <3"
many blessings for logging off + magic of scheduling tools!
I love you
xx
