believing in feelings 🕳🌱
Hi friend, where are you drawing from to create?
My fears are ever present. Every day feels like a wrestle between the things I feel about myself and the things I believe. I feel I am never good enough, I am too much, I always get it wrong and everyone is looking at me waiting to fuck up. I believe in not being good enough and doing it anyway. I believe in being too much, the most loud I can be. I believe in fucking up and learning and growing. I believe we all already have the tools we need within ourselves but feeling into them is the work. The translation of ideas into being.Â
I stared my first business when I was in the 5th grade with my best friend Megan. We made jewellery and we called ourselves "PM Designs" and drew a little moon logo on the business cards we made at my Mums office. We set up a table on the edge of the lawn and sold our wears to people walking to the park. We were in business for a solid weekend and decided to close up shop after we found we didn't actually like parting with the creations we made.Â
The creating comes easy to me, the making of the thing and idea feels (most of the time) easiest to me. But its the bringing the work home, letting people know what you're about where I feel most artists struggle. If creation is a journey to your magic elixir, the creation is only the first half, and the bringing it back home to share your magic elixir is where the magic lies. It is where the beliefs get turned into feelings when we can actually embody the work we have created. Â
And while Megan and I are no longer in business, we created something that was rooted in our beliefs. Friendship, magic, the moon and creation for creation sake.Â
BRING IT HOME
Finding what you are ABOUT is the first step in bring the work home. In articulating what you do, how you do it and why. This workshop is for anyone that needs to communicate what they do to others, artists, movement instructors, cheese mongers, shoe makers (also will argue these are all artists).
This workshop changes lives and I know so from the testimonials and the work I seen created from participants from our last workshop. The best part is everyone reading their bios at the end where I cry and marvel and the magic of art.
DRAW FROM WITHIN: AND ARTIST BIO WRITING WORKSHOP OCTOBER 7TH 6:30 PM - 8pm EST!
