Sustainable Harvest of self🌱
Hi friend, If you've been a reader of the friendship loveletter for any amount of time you will know my obsession with 1. trees 2. Robin Wall Kimmerer. Every morning I write my morning pages to the trees outside my window. Morning pages are my tools for really checking in with myself and more and more I've been noticing the word "output" coming up in my letters to the trees. Giving too much from myself and not feeling what I need back.
I am going to summarize a relatively large and traditionally sacred thought so if you want to read more about the honourable harvest do yourself a favour and pick up Braiding Sweetgrass. BUT! My exhaustion got me thinking about the honourable harvest. A way in which we take only what we need, ask permission to take, use everything you take and share it with others.
If there are rules to the honourable harvest from the land, what rules could we bring when we take from our own gardens? From the land we cultivate inside of ourselves? How could we take sustainably from self? Could we mindfully harvest from our gardens to share but use all parts of ourselves to give from. So our exporting could have greater impact, so we could export less?
When I think of resting I think of taking from myself less, and maybe, in this way, find more sustainability for self.
rest + trees
My last park class for the year is TONIGHT! 🤸♀️🦋 I am teaching my typical cardio + nonsense + dance class Be Buoyant in Gage Park (Hamilton locals this is for you, but if you wanna make the drive be! my! guest!) Move with me and the trees and disco and the rhythm of your own sweet self! The park is for all beings to take up space and feel and share in.
Come dance, Thursday October 14th 6pm
The sweetest testimonial from a 1:1 client 😭 "Phoebe has helped me to create a softer, more inviting approach to running my business. By offering celebration, guidance, coaching and humour Phoebe has helped me navigate both the bumpy and smooth times of entrepreneurship and to come up with actionable plans for moving forward in a creative business." I have so loved these Creative Advising session, I have open up slots for the rest of 2021 for 1:1 time!
Creative advising is for artists to collect feedback on a project, small business owners that want to inject more creativity into their work and 9-5’s or people that feel far from their creativity and want to feel closer to it. Finding ways in which rest and the honourable harvest can have space in art, business and selves.
community! 💫
stuff! people! I cannot believe are making beautiful things to share in! Also I feel community is the way to take and give from ourselves circularly 🌎
