I love to craft drama in my own minds eye. I have many stipulations for the circumstances work can and cannot be done, and the type of work that can or cannot be done be done in those circumstances. Some are helpful rules and agreements with self that I have crafted over the years, and others are drama and conflama that I have crafted and put lots and lots of energy into to make sure I avoid the tasks I say I am so interested in doing but insist on the drama being to true to do anything about it.
Knowing when an agreement of self has turned into drama requires curiosity and the big permission slip to know “I can bend and change”. That even the agreements might not always be useful.
There is a certain level of getting over myself needed to pick up the pen, write the newsletter, get up each morning and remember the commitments to myself and discern what drama I may have crafted to place in it’s way.
And these aren’t like FUN glamours ideas. Its kinda basic and duh.
If you’ve been here for a second you’ll know I’m dyslexic (I’m asked a lot about this you can check out the latest pod for more of my story). And discerning between when I’m getting in the way of something or
I didn’t wanna read the artist way (drama translation: i can’t I haven’t read in weeks, reading makes my head hurt, its dumb therefore I am dumb)
So I got over myself and bought myself the audio book.
I continue of this path of trying to grow my creativity.
LIKE EASY. SIMPLE.
The idea that we need to take extraordinary action to reach our extra ordinary goals is not always the way. Curisoutiy can be the antidote to the “i can’t i can’t i can’t” and by placing one little “what if…” in there, my drama and conflama demon deflates.
Least cool
Least sexy
Least profound
If I am the conduit for the spirit of my business, creativity, then I better get some Drano and get out if its way to let it flow (is this a gross metaphor?)
If we get over ourselves, notice what barriers we have constructed and get the demolition crew in to get rid of them, walk freely toward the thing, how much ease/success/growth/creation could we find? If we utilized the energy used to build barriers to avoid all the stuff we are actively trying to call in, we might find that doing that thing to be much simpler that we thought.
What could we create if we got out of our own way? And what level of getting over ourselves can we do to get our of our own way?
