The light returns the light returns. Or maybe we are just returning to some sense of routine during one of my most favourite and simultaneously ungrounding weeks of the year. I don’t know what day it is, I don’t know what I have up next on my calendar and I have only had cookies for breakfast lunch and dinner. And while various forms of gremlins whisper why I should run into the forrest, make me feel like I am being chased by a peacock and generally feeling bizarre – I love this week.
This week also celebrates the birth of this pace. Three whole years of the Creators Dispatch – formerly known as the highly strategically named “Friendship Love Letter”. I knew in 2019 I wanted to write more – I put out an instagram story asking if anyone wanted to receive my words. Knowing I’d show up weekly for one year if only 1 person (my Mum) showed up (hi mom! I know you’re still reading these 🥰). Three years later I am still here. Still writing. Still sharing. Still trying to uncover that last little rock that will make it all make sense (I wont, it wont).
I think it’s telling this space was born during this time of year. The space between, the ultimate grey area, and if you have been here for any amount of time you know like love of the grey area. Not because its so delicious to feel caught in the middle, but instead because I think it is where, ultimately, we spend most of our time. Nothing feels more human than the feeling of sitting at the bottom of the lake, feeling the current push and pull you in every direction. Only kind of knowing which way is up. Outside voices are heard but not understood.
I think we get our best ideas in the grey area, in the middle, at the bottom of the lake and on Dec 29th. But thats if we let the light return. We follow the rhythms our body asks for, that nature suggests. In plainer language, if we get out of our own way enough to just start. If we have space, if we have rest, if we have removal of expectation, what could we create?
