Last week in my marketing marketing newsletter (yes theres two ways for me to appear in your inbox 😎, I’d call myself annoying if I wasn’t also prolific). I wrote about time. The never-enoughness feeling of time. The i was just at the grcoery store and now i have to go back but I don’t know when that is going to happen between trying to wake up everyday and pay my bills. The measurement of quantity is only ever relative to capitalism. A practise I don’t like to participate in in the first place, but willingly hold myself to that standard of not enough time.
If I were to wave my magic wand and grant us all “more time” I don't think any extra minutes would actually help us feel truly resourced and rested. Of course we are bone exhausted, of course we live in a world that isn't wanting of the pace we are at. More time would just be more time to be stressed.
So I do not need, or want more time. Truthfully I feel lucky to be the time I have here. I instead want to do almost nothing at all. To go at the glacial pace Miranda Priestly would roll her eyes at. I want to knit hats, I want to shove my face into the sun, I want to walk slowing around the block, I want to do nothing and I want to enjoy the place I am at – to really just be.
No commitments.
No schedule.
No thing to make.
Which sounds simple. But this time of + the usual breed of existentialism isn’t just anti-thetical, but a personall afrront to everything else begging for your attention.
So instead I offer this.
With the time we already have, what is a way you could go even slower? Explore that space even more? Not in the name of more, productivity or enoughness. But in the name of being a 3D human breather here today.
There is already enough.
You are already enough.
